Semi Peppered w/ E-Saggila [LIVE]
The prowess of E-Saggila (aka Rita Mikhael) first came to our attention around the turn of the year through SIREN's ever-belting NTS Radio show. She quickly became a favourite
name within our crew, and after listening to her tape releases on Opal Tapes and Summer Isle (which she runs), as well as her 12” on BANK Records NYC, we gathered early signs that we’ve been sleeping on a real talent. We put our heads together and decided that, via one hair-brained scheme or another, it was our duty to bring Rita to a Bristol discotheque.
Summer Isle is a label that resonates with us as a stand-out point in modern, yet seminal, atmospheric music. The work across the board, such as releases from J Campbell’s ‘A Death at the Steelworks’ to Ciarra Black’s ‘Hidden Conditions’, exemplify the disregard for genre definition; reflecting quite naturally into the music that Rita produces.
The Toronto based Iraqi will be bringing her harsh, dissonant sounds across from Berlin; where she is staying while she completes a European tour, featuring dates on an Upperberry line-up with Job Sifre, Konkurs, Decka, Darwin, and more, and a performance at newly established Dresden venue Objekt Klein. E-Saggila will also be performing at Lunchmeat Festival in Prague, providing the A to Robert Seidel’s V in an audio visual set that stands out amongst an incredibly billed festival featuring Actress, Yves Tumor, Claro Interlecto, Lanark Artefax, and Regis.
E-Sagilla will be bringing her signature stamp of authority to Arts House Cafe’s Basement for two hours, for an intimate evening of her boundary-pushing, genre-defying fuck-off techno.
This will be harsh, dark, and experimental, and we can’t fucking wait.
Semi Peppered residents will be pulling records straight off Lucifer’s shelf for warm-up duties.
Bring a spare pair of crocs for when it gets MiRkY in the deeeep.
